Viewpoints

aboutViewpoints

My favorite workshop centers around Viewpoints (first developed by Anne Bogart and Mary Overlie), and can be taught to middle, high school, and college students.

In short, Viewpoints breaks down an actor’s performance into separate elements (Space, Shape, Time, Story, Movement, and Emotion), and allows them to increase their overall awareness onstage, so they can hack into their performance, and make more effective character choices!

So, whether students are rehearsing for a large production, or for a solo speech performance, Viewpoints becomes a tool to tailor one's own performances, but can also help to bond ensembles and create relationships among different peer groups.

It’s an incredible thing to see, and Viewpoints workshops surprise me every time!
